Write a song in a day
Whether you're a rapper, a folkie, a rocker or a unique mashup of your own, we're here to pass on the art of writing a great track.
How many songs have you ever listened to? Eh? Enuff, right? You know what you love, you know what moves you ... so take some time out and write some songs yourself. You've lived, you've won, you've lost ... you've noticed things no other living being ever has. It's time to get 'em down.
You think you can't? Think again ...
Whether it's lack of time or lack of confidence holding you back, or it's just never occurred to you to give it a try, step this way. With a deck of number ones and top ten hits between them, our hitmakers will (re)connect you with your muse and get your craft into shape.
"Emily takes the mystery out of songwriting and showed me that...it's possible! I'm working on some lyrics at home now. Looking forward to the next course. " Annie
What can I expect?
Talented beginner? Lapsed performer? Somewhere in between? All welcome. Each day you'll work in groups of two or three to write a song - if you don't play an instrument or you can't sing, we'll hook you up with people who can. And even if you can't do either, we can all write. So give it a try.
Our coaches visit each team in turn and help you weave that gold.
Work starts at 9.30 with a quick intro and an overview of some tried and tested song structures and techniques.
At the end of the day, your work will get the acid test... you'll perform it with your crew. And don't worry - humming, air guitar, gentle swaying all fine if performing is a tough proposition. But when you see how people react to your work, you'll learn very quickly what works, what doesn't and why.
"I'm much clearer about how to structure songs and my confidence has increased massively. Learned a lot of about the industry too." Amber
There'll be moments of I-just-can't-do-it despair. But when you hit on a chorus or a sweet melody you've helped pen yourself, you'll go crazy. Even better, all that hard work will give you a much better idea of why you love the songs you love and why you hate that crap you hate.
Don't take our word for it. Find out what people say about the course. And why they keep coming back.
